LIVING BY FAITH IN FINANCIAL MATTERS

TEXT: 2Cor. 9:6-11, 3Jn. 2, Ps. 34:10, Deut. 8:18, Ps. 68:19, Deut. 28:6, Prov. 22:4, Ps. 37:25

But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth forever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) Being enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God (2Cor. 9:6-11). Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth (3 John 2). The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing (Ps 34:10). But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day (Deut 8:18).

Money is human being’s greatest worries on the earth. This is because according to scriptures it answers all things. You need money to do almost everything here on the earth. Sometimes money is almost equivalent to one’s life. Yet a true believer who lives by faith can have all his needs met. God has made a clearer pronouncement about monetary and other needs on the earth. He says I will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. If the God of Paul is the God of the Hebrews and He’s your God, I want you to be rest assured that God would supply you (Phil. 4:19). God also had said through David, I have been young and am now old and I have never seen the righteous forsake Him nor a seed begging bread. God is not just willing to supply you materially, He also want to bless your children.

(2 Cor 9:6-11 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. (Ps 112:3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever). (Mal 3:10-11 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it). (Ps 23:6-24:1 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever). (Ps 34:9-10 O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him). (Ps 37:27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore). (Ps 84:11-12 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly). (Ps 128:1 Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways). (Isa 40:10 Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him).

  1. Give Sacrificially Lk. 6:38, Acts 20:35, Isa. 49:6, 2Cor. 9:10, Jn. 17:2 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again (Luke 6:38).

You all know that the issue of giving is a big problem in all churches. These itself is not a bad thing, only that in some cases the money is not being well utilized. God says you should give and it shall be given unto you. You must give consciously and sacrificially. You must also give conscientiously and consistently. Sometimes you might give substantially but not consistently. You will have to honour God not just once but all the time for the financial blessings to come. You must stand on some promises especially the one that says that He ministered seed to the sower. When you are giving to God, you must ensure that you pray on your gift before you go to the church. It says He ministers to the soul and give bread for your food and multiply your seed sown and even increase the fruit of your righteousness (2Cor. 9:10). Here, the seed is the one. The sower is you. The minister is God. The supplier is God and the increaser is God. You only do one thing, get the seed and then God does the three other things. After you have given you must tell God to do His own side and remind Him of some of the promises that He has promised to do concerning gift.

  1. Gospel must be connectedMk. 16:15-16, 2Cor. 4:3, I Cor. 4:5, Acts 20:24, Phil. 1:5, Col. 1:5 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned (Mark 16:15-16).

The area where you need to exercise faith in giving is to see a connection between what you give and the gospel. If a pastor gives money and spends it in the church as long as he’s connected to the gospel, you would receive the blessings. All your giving must be based on whether or not what you give is going to expand the gospel. As long as the gospel is being enhanced by your giving, you would be blessed. The gospel is called the gospel of truth (Col. 1:5). It is called the gospel of salvation. Human being are born or begotten through the gospel (1Cor. 4:15). The gospel is the good news of what Christ came to do for humanity and it need money to spread it. This includes radio, TV program, printing of tracts, building of churches and so on. Whatever enhances the gospel, by the gospel I mean true gospel, you would be blessed. By giving for the gospel, you are joining hands with God to bless you in a supernatural way.

  1. Get hold of promissory scriptures Job 36:11, Ps. 87:5, Ps. 65:9-10, Ps. 34:10, Ps. 68:6, 9 If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures (Job 36:11).

It is true that most people know that giving is good perhaps many times you must have received considerable blessing by your giving. There are certain things that God promises to the giver. Not only will He give you seed back because you are the sower, He has also made the promise that He will rebuke the sower for your sake. If a devourer therefore is on your finances, then you must remind God by faith to rebuke it. You should not rebuke it yourself because He didn’t say that you should rebuke it but He would rebuke it. Then if the door of heaven is not opening financially then you have to by faith go back to God and remind Him of that promises. Asking Him now to go and open the door of financial blessings. Stand on those promises and believe them. There are those who give to the work of God without thinking of receiving any blessing from it but this is not good enough. Your request should be based on scriptural platform. Sometimes you have to pray by faith. Sometimes you have to remind God and by doing so you would find that financial blessings would be open unto you.

  1. Go with great expectationMal. 3:8–12, Prov. 23:18, Ps. 9:18, Rom. 8:19 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts (Mal 3:8-12).

There are two great aspects of giving and there are two types of givers. There are those who give wit little expectation or no expectation at all. Then there are also those who give with too much expectation. You should give with faith and expect that God would bless you in the way that he Himself has chosen. This is where faith comes in. It is important to understand that the seed you sow must be good seed because a bad seed which comes from stolen money and corruption would always lead to a bad expectation. If you sow legitimate money, then you would be able to look forward to a legitimate way of getting back a return from the gospel investment that you have made.

Whenever you give, you must go with expectation because God has desired and expected you to prove it, to know if what He has said is true. A preacher told his congregation one time that they should give and they should expect great things from God within a time. He told them that he was going to keep the money somewhere, he wouldn’t spend it and that if there was anybody who had given and didn’t get any positive result, he should come back to him and his money would be refunded. Thank God nobody came. Not because they were afraid or they were timid of approaching the pastor but this was a covenant that both of them, the church and the pastor made between each other. As they gave they were blessed because they had high expectation from what the pastor had said. If you look around after your giving, you would find that there are certain things that would be happening. You may not get it exactly in monetary terms, but somewhere the devourer is being rebuked for your sake. Somewhere a window is opening. Somewhere a door is opening. Somewhere somebody is going to bless you. This is what you should do by raising your expectation and by tying your gift to the gospel then by faith God would supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

  1. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter
to be really something that I think I would never understand.
It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I’m
looking forward for your next post, I’ll try to get the hang of it!

  2. Hi! This post couldn’t be written any better! Reading this post reminds me of my good
old room mate! He always kept talking about this. I will forward this article to him.
Pretty sure he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Thanks for your valuable post. As time passes,
I have been abl to understand that the symptoms of mesothelioma
cancer are caused by the build up associated fluid relating to thee lining oon the lung and
the torso cavity. The condition may start from tthe chest location and multiply
tto other limbs. Other symptoms of pleural mesothelioma cancer includ fat loss, severe breathing

  4. Hi there, i read your blog from time to time and i own a similar one and i was just wondering if you get a lot of spam responses?
If so how do you prevent it, any plugin or anything you can advise?
I get so much lately it’s driving me insane so any assistance is very much appreciated.

  5. Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of
this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times
it’s very difficult to get that “perfect balance” between user
friendliness and appearance. I must say that you’ve
done a excellent job with this. Additionally, the blog loads very quick for me on Firefox.
    Outstanding Blog!
