2Kings 13:4 And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.
You wonder why God would ever allow his children to be oppressed. Some of you think that because you are a Christian, you because you are born again, the devil shouldn’t oppress you. But in many cases, it’s not often like that. The only thing we know is what God says. And here we see that the Israelite were being oppressed. They were God’s people. But the good news to you today is that the more oppressed or persecuted you are, the more the blessings of God that will be coming upon you. When Israel was in Egypt, as well as when it was in Syria, they were being oppressed by the king of Syria. But you are told that the more they oppressed them, the more they prospered. So, you just wait for God’s prosperity upon you, so that your oppressors would be ashamed. While Israelites were being oppressed in Egypt they were terrified by the amount of oppression they gave them but also by the amount of blessings that is upon them. If you are truly a child of God, if somebody is trying to oppress you, they will see God’s glory, then you will experience prosperity, if they want let them oppress you but it is not going to affect your promotion, your finances, your family. So when Jehoahaz besought the Lord, the Lord, heard him. That’s why if you are leader, if you are a husband, if you are a mother, you should pray against the oppression of your family, just like Jehoahaz besought the Lord concerning the oppression of Israel by the Syrians.
