Eccl 7:7 Surely oppression maketh a wise man mad; and a gift destroyeth the heart.
If you are wise, you should hate oppression. You shouldn’t say because somebody has oppressed you, you yourself will oppress another because oppression in Nigeria is like a cycle. Teachers are oppressing students, students are oppressing their youngest sibling, the fathers are oppressing the mothers, politicians are oppressing people and pastors are oppressing members. We should be weary, tired and unhappy about the oppression you see. And then sit down and get sad about it. If you are a Christian, you shouldn’t like oppression, but everything must begin with you by you ensuring that you are not oppressing anybody. Because God wants you to be mad at oppression the word mad is not in the same way that the word is used in the area of somebody who is crazy. Somebody who is mentally the red No, it makes him unhappy. Maybe this is the kind of American slang. In America they say I am mad at you. That is not to say that I am a mad person at you rather it means that I am unhappy with you. I’m angry with you. So oppression can make you angry, can make you frustrated and then should make you want to do something because oppression makes a wise man mad that is why I have a website called the corruption fighter because corruption is a form of oppression. So try and see how you can alleviate oppression. But everything must start with you by making sure that you are doing the right thing and you are not oppressing anybody within your reach.
