THE POWER OF CONFESSION OF GOD’S WORDS

TEXT: Mk. 11:23-25, Rom. 10:17, Isa. 54:17, Rom. 4:17, Rom. 8:25

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses (Mark 11:23-25). No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD (Isa 54:17).

In understanding and practising confession, you already learn what happens when you confess God’s words but here are some new facts that you should know. There are three things that are recorded on this earth where we are living; the spirit, the blood and the word. Since you are still on earth, you need to bear record on earth. The word ‘bear record’ means ‘active’ on earth. Again, you need to know that word is the most important thing. We use ‘word’ to do anything we want to do. Invariably, you can say that your word is you. God’s word is God. Christ’s word is Christ. Your word is you. The power that backs the Word of God is God’s power itself. By releasing the power embedded in the Word of God, you can do and undo. Confession of faith is not just merely speaking out the word, it is understanding that something must happen whether you see it or not. When you confess faith in the Word of God you release God’s power and put it into motion. It might get immediate result. The result might take time but the result must surely come. Here are some of the reasons why that will be.

  1. The word createsJer. 1:12, Gen. 22:8-14

And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen (Gen. 22:8-14).

We often use words to create things. Everything that God says He is going to do is going to be created by words. In prayer, words are used but most of the time the answers to prayers those request are not easily forthcoming because you are only speaking your own words. You are praying with your own words. The minute you begin to pray with God’s word, you release the creative power of God in the physical, carnal and spiritual realm. You can conceive something in your mind and use God’s word to create it. You can produce or originate form, you can cause to bring into being just as God said it just by making a confession of your faith. You can build, invent, generate, construct, design and authorize to give birth to something by loading that situation with the Word of God.

  1. The word causes things to happenPs. 103:5, Ps. 40:3, Prov. 22:14, Ps. 81:10

Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s (Ps 103:5).

An instruction to people and places happen. The number of activities our world creates depends on the level of our authority. Since God’s word is backed by His own authority then He is able to make things happen. The Word of God has 100% power backing it up day by day. Not only this, the Word of God is backed up by the power of the Holy Spirit. Behind every word is God. When you confess it from genesis to revelation, you bring life and cause what you are saying to happen sooner or later. Don’t be discouraged by not receiving an immediate result when you begin to confess faith. The treasure is in the earthen vessel and the word is near you even in your heart and in your mouth, even in the word of faith which you speak.

  1. The word is a containerProv. 13:2, Gen. 2:7, Prov. 10:14, Prov. 10:6, Prov. 18:17

A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence (Prov 13:2).

The Word of God is real because it is a container. It contains power, authority, anointing, grace, creativity. There are two things we need to know under here. When God created man, He breathed into man the breath of life and man became a living soul (Gen. 2:7). The same breathe of God underlines every single word of the scriptures. From a dead place, God created man. Remember that man could not stand or pick anything until the life of God which is the breath of life came unto him. The breath of life is in the Word of God. When you speak that word, it brings life to the situation but this will only have meaning when you grab the truth of the Word of God. As God’s breathe causes man to become living soul, so also, God’s breathe in the bible will cause life to happen to you, your soul and your situations. So, what will you do from now? You must include the Word of God in your prayer. In fact, when you pray with the Word of God and when you quote the scriptures of God, you will have almost an instantaneous response. Never hesitate to stand on the truth of that word until things change.

  1. The word calls things into existenceGen. 1:1-4, Acts 20:32, Heb. 4:12, 2Tim. 3:16

And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified (Acts 20:32).

Notice that God is set to be one who calls things that be not as though they were. Calling things as though they were goes beyond creativity. The Word of God is an invention. Christians are yet to explore all the possibilities that are in the Word of God through confession of our faith. It is good to pray but it is far better to create or call things into existence which hitherto were not there. Consider that when Abraham was told to sacrifice his son, Abraham spoke the ram into existence. There was no ram there as at the time he spoke but out of the blues like magic which obviously was a miracle, the ram was found in the bush. We are going to explore how Abraham did it and how we are going to do it today. What you are going to do in confession of faith is modeling your faith after people who had done such a thing before, since God is not a respecter of persons. If somebody did it and you copy the way he did it, then you are going to get the same result that the person got. This is what is called ‘spiritual modeling’. Here is what you need to know, you can bring something into existence by continuously and constantly bombarding a situation with the Word of God. It is possible that you have practised confession of faith for some time and you didn’t get result, so, you gave up. You had better start it all over again. Give it another start. Try it again and this time be fully persuaded that what you are going to confess is going to happen whether the devil likes it or not.

  1. The word calms the storms of life1Thess. 2:13, Jer. 15:16, James 1:22

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts (Jer 15:16).

When there was storm in the sea, Jesus spoke God’s word and He said “Peace, be still” (Mk. 4:39). There is so much turbulence in the world. But there is so much tranquility through the word. There is so much agitation in our minds in the world. And there can be so much peace of mind in us through the word. We can be composed and calm every storm and pacify every evil if we keep releasing the Word of God into the situation. God has said that He will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him because he trusted in Him (Isa. 26:3). Every agitation can be tranquilized through the confession of the Word of God. When your life is full of storms and crisis, you have what it takes to bring it into calmness. You have the Word of God. When you keep saying for example, be still, be still, be still. You close your eyes and speak that same word that Jesus spoke, be still, be still, be still and you repeat this into your mind. Oh a miracle will happen because you find yourself in a still environment. Your world will be different from the turbulence and chaotic world.
